GoOd Vs. Evil by samantha Ridgeway

“The Line Between Good and Evil Cuts Through the Heart of Every Human Being”-

Aleandre Solzenitsyn

Evil is in every soul, every body. an any heart that beats. Everyone has a heart, right? That heart beats without your control, what you do control is what that heart beats in. Does that heart beat in selfishly, cold an pure negative evil body or does that heart beat in kind, loving and thinks of others, along with pure greatness body. Lucky, for those who have been born in the States know this has well. We are born into freedom... We have rights. We have the right to choose who we are an what we do with our lives. No matter what the situation is in life I always base it on this, you could have 99.9 bad but there’s still a pointh that good. You can always over roll pure negative. You can turn it around a make any situation good. That leads me to say that, "Good outweighs evil." but in this case by the studies shown in our class subject. I believe that “evil over rolled the good”. It can go both ways. I believe it depends on the people and what the case is. Evil an Good is everywhere an in everyone, up to the person and what their point of views in life where leads to what one beats the other.

Has the motivating speaking in TED Philip Zimbardo said" Evil is the exercised of power". In the studies of ted, trouble started when you gave someone power. When u gave the leaders of our two main studies Hitler an Khlmer Rouge power. Look at the troubles they had caused. Somehow these people got power an like the study showed that over 90 present of people vibe off power an abity of control that  no one will be weld for wrong doing.  Their power branched in to others who followed these leads, the weak stride off the streath of the leaders of evil. The evil actions that took place in these subject was created by weak people. That were to focus on following the negative that they had lost what was true humanly right, they let their own minds an heart get week, along with blinded by these eveil leaders. These leaders take room full of bitter, angry, lost confused and scared souls. Talk of power and control creates an army filled of negative, filled to fight what they think is right to fight for control over their lives. Little did everyone know, the good didn't stand a chance? The good was blinded an over rolled of evil.

"For the last three decades, without surceases, Cambodia has been consumed by war, genocide, slave labor an forced marches, starvation an now civil conflict. it is to Asia what the holocaust was to Europe" said Sydney Schanberg. They both are different couture's but went through some very common issues through a long period of time. Army’s of evil  had done crimes against humanity. While the good wasn't able to neither fight nor stand in their own Humanity. The good, were blinded by darkness. A such darkness that, I don't understand how they will ever recover. But like every life an every story you can choose what the outcome may bring. You can’t control life its self or everything that happens around you but you can control the outcome. What you do next. These people had been over weighted by evil. Only the strong has lived through this horror. Only the strong can control this outcome, they need to learn to override the war against evil. While reading the "the Night by Ellie Wiesel " you might wonder what good can come from such horrible things that were spoken about the things that had been taking place in our history. If we didn't have evil? Would we have history? If didn't have evil, we were learn some very important information in life? I would say we need evil, to show you greatness. The writer Ellie Wiesel, didn't have a choose to be there at that camp, that is true. He did have choose to do the things he has done though, an that is why he here to day. Ellie didn't have to turn his life into what it has become. I am sure that many others never turned around from all that negative but maybe the help of him opening up an writing his books. Maybe Ellie showed those people a new path in life that isn’t surrounded by evil. In Ellie there was a fight to over drive that negative and let his voice be heard. He just might gave many others that same strength. To let others know that evil may very well over weight good but up to you if your going to let that beat you. Fighting evil can take a life time, willing to bet that many others haven't still recovered from all that god offal mess . He said in his interview with Oprah" I have written 27 books but yet, haven't even got started on what had happen with in them camps". He made that evil outweigh the good. He never gave up, nor should anyone that faces evil. He took something horrible that had happen an made the best he could with it. He had came up with ways to overcome an let out some of that negative. To pass on the stories an history of hope that, some might learn the simple messages of life. In my eyes Ellie Wiesel, is a hero. I think he is a good example of Philip Zimbardo form of a hero, “Heroes are everyday people whose social actions is extra ordinary people”. You got Ellie that is just another Jew fighting his way through his hardship in life, he kept his who is. I believe that what he is doing great an if you need example on how to over roll the evil and start to let the good overcome that evil. The war Evil vs. Good, going be on going until the end of time. Being Evil is easy, being pure good isn’t easy.  Humans need to keep the fight to over weigh that evil.

Genocide/Evil Reflection
A person is different, whether good or evil or vice versa, based on their human character.  Many people suffer from the evil power and the danger that the government puts on the working people.  Evil is a psychological term meaning exercise of power.  This type of power is shown in many forms, even from genocides.  From many genocides, the Holocaust and the battle in Cambodia will be talking about what happened during the genocide and explain who would be considered an everyday hero.
The human character reflects on the amount of behavior shown in each genocide.  “The race toward death had begun.” quote from Night.  From the movie, “The Killing Fields”, Cambodians were afraid of the war going on, plus the Khmer Rouge group, selecting families, including kids and torturing them.   All families were subjected to interrogation, torturing, and killing because the Khmer group thought that all parents were the enemy to them.  Even the children, played this evil game of torture and kill because they were ripped apart from loving their parents and watched their families work or sent to be killed.
One special person, Pran, lived through the malicious tactics; even escaped from near death.  Pran was a reporter and helped write about the war, plus taking pictures of the gruesome killings happening there.  During the time in Cambodia, Americans were trying to bomb the state, but were somewhat unsuccessful because of the miss-printed coordinates.  People were also sent to live on their own because of a massive evacuation.  Pran was a good example of an everyday hero because he showed loyalty to Schanberg and for reporting, in general.  Pran always thought on the positive side of the worse situations.
Another genocide that involves the human behavior would be the Holocaust.  This involved many Hitler army men, taking control of millions of Jewish culture and killing them with many deathly experiments.  I think that Hitler is, overall, showing that he is humane to these people.  The Human Character that these soldiers are in is the situation or “Bad Barrels” evil because they think that, by caging and torturing these Jews that come from the cities, they feel dominate over everyone else.  I think that by wearing the Nazi band, people are disgusted of you; working for the enemy and creating chaos.
Although one person, Elie Wiesel, lived, worked and survived through the harsh conditions.  “But we no longer feared death, in any event not this particular death.” Quote from Night.  Some ways that the Jewish people died were from the crematorium, starvation, mass shootings by SS soldiers, and Zyklon B gas put into the gas chambers.  “In the air, the smell of burning flesh.  It must have been around midnight.”  Quote from Night.  The Zyklon B gas was the worst of them all because the pellets mixed in with carbon dioxide, from people breathing, created death through suffocation.  From the days that Elie was in the camp, he describes the first night that he went through.  He thought if working or starving or sleeping would be the last time until death.  “My heart was about to burst.  There.  I was face-to-face with the Angel of Death.”  Quote from Night.  Elie Weisel is considered an everyday hero because he helped his father more than helping himself.  His father was dying from some form of diarrhea, so he made sure that they were going to make to the end, no matter what.

Here are the reasons for each genocide and who would be considered the everyday hero.  To have Elie talk about the concentration camp and the many killings that happened, when talking to Oprah, shows that he is still concerned with all of the killings and just understand why.  For survivors telling their stories from living in Cambodia, they are showing that no matter how hard the situation is, there is still a chance to live.  I believe that good outweighs evil, in any circumstances, because many people in camps believe in the hope that will come, later in their life.

Genocide

Patrick Dunfee Genocide paper September 30 Genocide, also known as ethnic cleansing, is still a possibility while living in this imperfect world. Scary for sure, but it only takes one person with the power needed to engage in the act of such violence. We as the young generation have studied the history of genocide. It only takes one person with the hatred of one specific group of individuals and the power to try to exterminate the specific group. I say this with some suspicion, but who is to say that the SS soldiers that were in charge of the concentration camps weren’t just following orders from Hitler. They could have been everyday people with families and a job; you never know what Hitler offered those people that were in charge of the concentration camps. Once given something that has great meaning to the specific person they might of just thought that the item was of greater value than what they already had. In my opinion Hitler was a very selfish person that needed to be shot in the head. It’s too bad that he killed himself before American soldiers were able to get to him. If they were to reach him before he shot himself I think that he would have been in a world of hurt in many different ways. After reading about what Hitler did I think that good out weighed evil because there was only one person that organized the camps and what happened to them at the camps. I bet that the SS soldiers were offered something in return for following Hitler’s living hell instructions. The inmates of the concentration camps were just following the commands that they were given in hopes of keeping their own lives. They only acted because of the horrific plans Hitler had for the weak and old. The inmates had no idea what was going on at first, but once they figured it out they were just acting on the commands that were given. In my opinion the inmates had more good than evil because everyone in the camps were doing what was told to them, but the commands were really only given by one person. I think that there could be a modern day genocide because of the almost daily shootings that take place and all of the kidnappings that happen all over the world. All it will take is for the wrong person to be elected president. With all that has happened in earlier years I can see a person of the higher power taking his/her power to far and trying to annihilate a specific group. I know that there are laws to help prevent such a tragic event from occuring again, but I don’t have a good feeling about what is to come in later years. I think that the people with so called disabilities will be the first group to be targeted because of all the misconceptions about them. It only takes the wrong person to be of the higher power to carry out the tragic act.

Over the past month we have been learning about genocide through movies, books and articles.  When I think back on everything we have learned I think that Evil outweighs good. When we read the book Night I could not believe all the terrible things that were happening to these innocent men and women.  The book Night is about Elie Wiesel’s journey through the Holocaust at the Nazi concentration camps, and the ropes he had to go through and how he actually lived through the Holocaust. This is a true story.

Within the book Night there are many examples of evil outweighing good. When they first arrive to Auschwitz and they split the men and women up, and they send the women and their kids to the crematory. Actually they were all told they were taking showers and they had them strip there close off. They were all clueless that they were about to die. The crematory is a place where they send the innocent people to take “showers” and after they are all in there they drop this toxic gas (zyklon B) through these holes and it kills all the people. There is nothing good about this it is just all evil. And this is one reason I think evil outweighs good.

Another reason I see that evil outweighs good is when they have everyone gather around and watch them hang that young kid (Reichsfuhrer Himmler) and his neck was too small for the noose so they had to watch him die of a slow and painful death and he hung there for at least a half an hour. The 13 year old boy (Reichsfuhrer Himmler) was hanged because he stole during the air raid. And even though he did steal stuff this still isn’t fair and it is evil.

Also I see that evil outweighs good when they execute millions of innocent people and send them to the crematory. But then they turn around and have an infirmary! What!? That doesn’t make any sense at all of all the terrible things they do to people, they hang them and  throw them in the crematory but they will help the people that are sick or have other issues with sore feet and so on. To me that doesn’t make sense because you think that would just be one more reason they would kill an innocent human being. Like they’ve done many times before for absolutely no reason at all.

I think throughout this book there are many examples as to how evil outweighs good but the last piece I am going to talk about is evacuation day at Auschwitz, the innocent people had no Idea where they were headed but they had to run all the way there. Well the SS officers got to switch in and out with other SS officers when they got tired. They were evacuating because the Russians were coming. They ran all night and into the morning and stopped at this abandoned building. I can’t even imagine running for ten minutes straight let alone all night and into the morning. That is just evil for sure!

All in all, the four different pieces I talked about throughout this paper best describes that evil outweighs good! Everything that went on at Auschwitz was just peer evil, the hangings, the millions of people that died in the crematory and making them run all night and into the next day, and this is just a few of the terrible things the SS men did to these innocent people. There is millions of people dead because of the Holocaust and there was really no reason for it at all.
