As we watched the interview between Oprah and Elie I just sat there in aw I didn't even know what to think. It was all so crazy to me because I have never seen something so horrific in my life, and for Elie to be able to come back and share his experience to all of us while walking around the same concentration camp where he suffered for so long is amazing to me. Because I know that I would not be able to do that and stay as calm as he was I'm sure it would have made me very sad to have to see it all again after so long. A few of the thing that he said that really stood out to me are,
- That millions of people where killed in the process of the Holocaust
- The main concentration camp was larger than 5000 foot ball fields
- 8000 Jews were sent to Auschwitz a day
- Bodies were burnt by thousands
When we talk about the Holocaust in numbers like you listed, the magnitude is really apparent. I agree, the fact that Elie survived this and used his life to make a difference is amazing.
